ABOUT
Lisa Sciandra writes creative nonfiction and memoir. Her favorite topics to write about are her ancestors, her family, Sicily, and mental health.
For over 30 years, Lisa has been writing and editing in various contexts, from her college alumni magazine to website copy to legal publishing to serving as an attorney editor for the California Supreme Court. As a practicing attorney, she wrote numerous motions and briefs, including over 50 criminal appeals. She also taught advanced legal writing to law students and successfully tutored repeat bar exam takers on how to write responses to essay questions.
In her “real life” outside of work, Lisa is a mom to two kids, a cat mom, an occasional player of the viola, a maker of jewelry (under the brand name Strega Mama Emporio), and is currently learning to speak Italian with help from her cousins in Italy.

PROJECTS

I'm currently in the process of researching and writing my first book, tentatively titled City of Angels, Ghosts of My Family. This narrative nonfiction/memoir story is a love letter to Los Angeles in which the narrator finds meaning at the intersection of place and ancestry.
